LANGUAGE ARTS:
We are busy writing letters to each of our Canadian communities. We want to learn more about these communities. Grade 2's are also expected to write a friendly letter.
MATH:
Grade 1 continues to work on counting skills.
Grade 2 continues to work on addition/subtraction skills.
Together, Grade 1/2 work on sharing strategies to solve problems(Math Talks). We are working on Math Fair games/problems and learning how to create different levels of difficulty.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
We are busy learning about Meteghan, Saskatoon and Iqaluit. We learned that Saskatoon is named after the berry of the same name, which is native to the region, and is itself derived from the Cree misâskwatômina.
SCIENCE:
We are learning how a boat maintains balance (a keel!)
