November 30

Teacher's Message:  IMPORTANT REMINDER- PLEASE WEAR YOUR BATHING SUIT UNDER YOUR CLOTHES WHEN YOU COME TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY. PLEASE BRING A BAG WITH YOUR UNDERWEAR AND TOWEL INSIDE. PACK A HEARTY LUNCH/SNACK/WATER. 

Please make sure to have your child practice their speaking part if they have a part to say! (see below)
 Also ask your child if they need help from home with their costume. 

We did not write T.W.A.S. today. We worked in our Visual Journal to write about something we learned at the Zoo or some that we saw that was new to us! Here is our work.

Listening Larry - We had the O.T. in (Ms. Kristen) to talk to us about our Listening Bodies. Can you tell all the parts of your body that should be listening to a speaker (brain, ears, eyes, mouth, body and heart, hands, feet)

7. Where do penguins live? (Southern Hemisphere)

9. Who are their predators? (orca, shark...)
10. How do humans affect the health of penguins (fishing, plastic, garbage ...)
11. Can you name the 4 types of penguins at the zoo? (rockhopper, gentoo, king and humbolt)
12. Which one was your favorite? Why? 
13. Where did all the animals that we saw today (except the penguins) live? (Canada)




This was the first time the King Penguins have been out since the Spring. We saw them!!!

A Bugz Christmas

(Please Note: Some of the students did not want a speaking part) I tried to accommodate everyone!
Needs for props:
-A plain, small Christmas tree, 
-Decorations of the following for the students to place on the tree
1 butterfly – (We have one in a plant by the court yard)
2 Lady bugs
3 Tiger Beetles
4 Army ants
5 Fire Flies
2 bumble bees
2 termites
2 Fruit flies
1 House fly
2 Dragon Flies
Strings of lights that have a switch

Butterfly – Amelia – We have wings. One solid color for clothing, maybe face paint
Lady Bugs – Madelyn and Margaret – Dress in all black. We have tutus and wings
Tiger Beetles – Max, Wyatt and Matthew – dress all in green. We will need to paint faces like a tiger and make a “shield” or wings
Army Ants – Oliver, Stanley, Will U. A.J. – We have army pants and helmets. Plain green shirt needed
Fire Flies – Victoria, Ashlyn, Millie, Sarah, Ainsley – Dress all in black. We will attach lights and wings
Termites – Noah and Sam – dress all in brown. We will add wings and antennas. 
Yellow Jackets/ Bumble Bees – Kaden and William C. – Dress all in black. We will provide a yellow t-shirt with black stripes
Fruit Flies – Julia and Isabella – All Black. We will create hats with plastic fruit and wings
House Flies – Maya- Housecoat, curlers in hair, dust buster in hand, big eyelashes, rosie cheeks, slipppers
Dragon Flies – Jayden and Evera – All dressed in Blue. We will have wings and tails.

Sarah:Welcome, friends and neighbors, And everyone we know!
Oliver: All the bugs have gathered for a merry Christmas show!
Madelyn:  We know you thought we were so cute, in our last years’ show.
Max:  We thought we’d make another appearance, and try to brave the snow!
Amelia:  Remember when you brought that Christmas tree, right into your house?
Will U:  Well, we were hiding deep inside, as quiet as a mouse.
Ashlyn:  Don’t worry, the termites, were left out, the roaches and stink bugs too.
Sam:  But all the rest of us are here to sing and dance for you!
Matthew:  So put your hands together, for this buggy celebration.
Wyatt:  Consider this your invitation, to a Christmas Infestation!
Margaret:  But wait!  Something bad has happened. The termites have come uninvited.
Julia:  They’ve chewed up all the decorations, and even ate the lights.
Isabella: Now the evergreen is dark, and it’s almost Christmas night!
Jaiden:  Well, this will never do at all, is there nothing we can try?
Ainsley:  A Christmas with no Christmas lights! I think I’m going to cry.
Victoria:  We have some special guests this year, Friends of yours and mine!
Kaden:  And what they do best most every night, is let their little light shine!

Five…..uhh, oops….four fire flies. Four army ants, 3 tiger beetles two lady bugs and a butterfly a top the Christmas tree.
Will U.:Thank you, fireflies. You saved the day. You lit up the Christmas tree!
Matthew:  You made the holiday complete, and oh, so beautifully!
ALL STUDENTS:
Christmas is a time for sharing, for handshakes and for hugs.
And don’t forget to be extra nice to all us little bugs!

End Of Year

What a fantastic year! I am very proud of each student! It has been a great year with a focus on how we can be healthy. I hope (at least) o...
