Agenda Message: Read T.W.A.S.. Read Blog.

Message From the Teacher:
Next week we are on our Healthy School Field Trip. Please be on time (8:30) as the bus leaves our school at 8:45. On Monday, you can return T.W.A.S. book and bring in Agenda but the Agenda may not be written in. We will try to make sure we continue Home Reading exchange next week. Please see our volunteers below.  Volunteers and students - pack a hearty lunch and water!!!
The High Frequency Words you received are to be cut apart at home. Keep in the white envelope. This envelope can be kept in the Home Reading Bag. Review the words several times per week. Your child may need to only review 10 at a time or all of them - you might have to judge how long they can keep focused. These are words that is seen in 50-70% of all the materials they read so these words should become easily recalled. The package of words that they received are expected to be known be the end of their Grade. The words received ranged from Pre-Kindergarten up to Grade 1 or Grade 2 (depending on the Grade your child is in now). If your child has 'nailed' all the words and can say them ALL quickly, please ask me for the next Grade level.

As well (if you didn't do this already), please write into your child's agenda, on EVERY THURSDAY, Book Exchange. Please write it in the orange section so it does not take up space for your child's message.

A reminder that reading with the Home Reading Program should be a daily occurrence. Please refer to the Reading Strategies in the middle of the Home Reading Data Booklet (white book) to help when  your child is 'stuck on a word'.  *A reminder  - when you are a beginning reader, please have your child point to each word they read.

Here are also the computer programs that you have access to at home:
RAZ KIDS - Go to Raz-kids.com.  Kids Login. LMaze1. Click on student. Password - cat.

MATHLETICS - Go to mathletics.com. Sign Into Mathletics. Use the Username and password that in taped into the front cover of your Agenda.

Here is the more challenging skill of counting on from 10. For Grade 1, this will typically be more challenging but the skill of counting on from 10 should be a skill they need to know by the end of grade 1. For Grade 2, the practice of 10 + a single digit should come fairly quickly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVjvswqL-Ow

Grade 1 Patterns (finding the core of a pattern) - please review with your child. Can you try some patterns at home?
