TEACHER'S MESSAGE:
We reviewed every day about what is 'bugging' and what is 'bullying'. Please review with your child and see if they have questions or concerns.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
Today we worked in our T.W.A.S. journal. Grade 2 students should be very capable of writing a full (half) page, either on one event from their week or writing about two events from their week. They should be able to elaborate on the event (2-3 sentences) and share how they felt about it. For Grade 1, they typically write about one event and share a sentence or two about it, then how they they felt about it. ALL STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WRITE (IN THEIR T.W.A.S) ON THE WEEKEND AND THEY CAN SHARE WITH THEIR CLASSMATES NEXT WEEK.
We worked on doing a special project for our Moms!
Next week, we are going to try to convince (via a persuasive letter) 'at least' one family in our school to visit one of the communities we studied in Social Studies. Check out our written work (in the hallway) in the next few weeks!

MATH:
We are beginning the Measurement Unit. For Grade 1, we use non-standard measurement. Grade 1 will  compare/order/fill-in shapes. See more details in your child's agenda front pocket. If your Grade 1 child did not take home the information, please have them come to me and get it. Grade 2 will use both non-standard and standardized measurement. See more details in your child's agenda pocket.

SCIENCE:
We will be taking a closer look at small flying and crawling animals (in Alberta). We look at sorting animals into invertebrates (no backbone - insects, spiders, worms, crustaceans, mollusks) and vertebrates (backbone - fish, bird, mammal, amphibian, reptile). As well, look at habitats, predators, and food chain.

GYM:   We've started to use our Frisbees outside - simplified version of Frisbee Golf. Ask your child how they did - great activity for home or in the park!
