LANGUAGE ARTS:
Thank you to all those students who wrote in their T.W.A.S journal over the weekend. We took the time to share them during our snack time this week.
MATH:
We have begun the Measurement Unit. For Grade 1, we use non-standard measurement. Grade 1 will compare objects/order them/fill-in shapes. See more details in your child's agenda front pocket. If your Grade 1 child did not take home the information, please have them come to me and get it. Grade 2 will use both non-standard and standardized measurement. See more details in your child's agenda pocket.
SCIENCE:
We will be taking a closer look at small flying and crawling animals (in Alberta). We've begun to look at bats (yes there are 9 species of bats in Alberta). Each student was asked to record (at least)8 facts about spiders. See if your child can recall 8 facts. We looked at a bat's habitat, predators, food chain (what they eat and what eats them), how they care for their live babies, how they are the only flying mammal, how their are fruit or insect eating bats and how to get one out of your house if one gets in your house.
